To develop the students' international vision, enhance the international competitiveness of the students from School of Textiles and Clothing, strengthen the in-depth understanding of advanced textile and garment technology, promote cooperation and communication with colleges and universities at home and abroad, and in 2019 winter vacation, the School of Textiles and Clothing organized students to go to Tokyo Waseda University, and Hong Kong Polytechnic University to carry out innovation and practice exchange activities.
From February 15 to 22, 43 teachers and students from the School of Textiles and Clothing of Jiangnan University went to the Department of Textiles and Clothing of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and launched the Technology Innovation Visiting Practice Project of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2019.
During the visit to the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, students attended academic lectures which covered four topics: What is design, How to evaluate design, Theory of draping basic blocks, Introduction to 3D Pattern Technique. The course was taught entirely in English by professors from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. In the immersion teaching, the question-oriented teaching concept and flexible teaching method stimulated students' initiative in class, students had in-depth communication with teachers, active thinking, a strong academic atmosphere, and they did learned a lot. In the course of graduation, all the students were divided into six groups and made garments under the theme of "Chinese dream". From the garment making concept, to the pattern design, to the fabric selection, to the tailoring and garment making, the students worked hand in hand, divided the work and made concerted efforts to complete the work. Finally, all the team members explained and demonstrated in English to the teachers of the Hong Kong Polytechnic and all the members of the visiting group, which was well received by the teachers of the Hong Kong Polytechnic.
During their stay at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, students also visited the laboratory of the department of textiles and clothing, where they learned about many advanced instruments and the outstanding achievements of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in the field of textile and clothing research.
From January 20 to 27, many teachers and students of the School of Textiles and Clothing went to Waseda University in Japan to carry out the study tour practice project. In the course, students learned about the business operation system and corporate internal governance of Japanese textile industry. Through teaching, students realize that there is a close relationship between superiors and subordinates in Japanese companies, and there is great pressure from seniors and promotion. But at the same time, due to the developed economy of Japan, survival becomes simple, and most Japanese companies have permanent employees, so the employment pressure in Japan is not very great, but the work is very stressful. Among Japanese companies, the relationship between the company, the government and the people depends more on long-term communication and adjustment before deciding to do something, and everyone from the government to the enterprise is actively involved.
In addition to the course, students also visited Panasonic Home Life Exhibition Hall, Japan Nippon Corporation and other famous Japanese enterprises. At the end of the interactive session, students actively speak and ask questions. According to the students, Panasonic presents a desirable future life experience through various forms of product display and the careful construction of smart kitchen, bedroom and bathroom space. The innovative spirit of the Japan Nippon Corporation is worth learning. It is the secret of Nippon's century-long prosperity to constantly discover the needs, develop new products and find new USES.
With the increasing frequency of international exchange activities, more and more students choose to study abroad. International exchange activities allow students to feel the cultural traditions of different countries, experience the life styles of different countries, broaden students' horizons and improve their independent learning ability.
